Born in Troyes into a family of collectors, Martine Martine was introduced to art at an early age. Her work, as personal as it is powerful in its fidelity to figuration, draws its creative energy as well as its taste for life from her family roots.
The number of self-portraits painted throughout her career express the questions Martine Martine has faced and the answers she has formulated by translating, at first, her immediate environment - still lifes, portraits of friends -, then other themes - hands, horses, orchestras, crowd movements, workshops, mountain landscapes, sumos, etc.
For some years now, Martine Martine has been devoting herself to an in-depth study of Balzac, renewing the palette, the framing and the formats. This book is the catalogue raisonné. The book also includes a catalogue of works published since the publication of volume I in 2015.
