A major player in modern jewellery in the 1920s, Paul Brandt (1883-1952) worked with the greatest jewellers of his time, including Fouquet, Templier and Sandoz.
Paul Brandt followed eclectic studies in Paris (jewellery, painting, sculpture, engraving on medals and fine stones, enamelling, etc.) and decided to specialise in jewellery design. With his first creations, he was part of the art nouveau movement before moving towards an art deco style. He participated in the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts both as an artist and as a member of the jury. Paul Brandt considered his jewellery to be works of art in their own right and exhibited them in exhibitions with increasingly innovative scenography. From the 1930s onwards, he extended his activity to interior decoration.
This first monograph devoted to Paul Brandt retraces his entire career, highlighting the extent of his skills, not only in jewellery but also in the fields of decoration and interior design. The book is based on unpublished research and is illustrated by a corpus of 350 iconographic documents from journalistic sources, museums and public and private archives.
