Exhibition at the Musée Magnelli, Vallauris, 24 June - 25 September 2023
Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) played a leading role at the heart of the artistic revolutions that swept through the twentieth century, beginning with Cubism, which overturned traditional aesthetic representation.
The exploration of different media appeared very early in Picasso's artistic approach, but it was in the post-war years that it was most significant. He increasingly worked with specific craftsmen or professionals, including François Hugo for goldsmiths. This collaboration, which seems to be one of Picasso's least well-known, remained confidential for a long time. It began in 1956 and continued until 1967, and almost 70 pieces were created within the framework of this association.
This exhibition catalogue offers an in-depth analysis of this group of remarkable works, including silver dishes and gold sculptures and medallions.
