Exhibition at Centre Pompidou, Paris, 11 May - 22 August 2016.
Creator of the furniture of the Palais de l'Elysée under the presidencies of Georges Pompidou and François Mitterrand, Pierre Paulin (1927-2009) considerably influenced the design scene.
This exhibition catalogue is built around the themes and key-steps of Paulin's work: the blue colour, the future, institutional commissions and materials. His environments, furniture, industrial objects, plain or spectacular, are put at the service of the body, offering it comfort and reassurance.
Essays by design specialists and free texts by Paulin's close relatives, as Carolyn Carlson, shed a new light on his work.
