Pierre Sabatier (1925-2003) was an artist on the fringes of any commercial circuit and little known to the general public. He devoted his life to building a monumental body of work that was part of the major artistic movements of the Trente Glorieuses period. A member of the 'Living Wall' movement, which advocated the integration of art into architecture, he established himself as one of the major protagonists of this movement.

Sabatier began by creating ceramics and mosaics before turning to metal, which would remain his favourite material. From the 1970s onwards, he worked with the leading architects of the day to create gigantic decors for public spaces and the headquarters of major companies, including Axa and BNP. The façade of the Rochas building on Rue François 1er in Paris is one of his most emblematic works.

This monograph gives an insight into the monumental dimension of Pierre Sabatier's work. It includes a portfolio of photos showing the artist's studio and his intimate world, texts by recognised specialists and a catalogue of works, providing the tools to better understand the artist's protean oeuvre.
