Nicknamed « the jewel sculptor », Raymond Templier (1891-1968), son and grandson of Parisian jewellers, is one of the greatest Art Deco designers. Present at all the major exhibitions from his graduation from the Ecole nationale des arts décoratifs in 1912 until 1960, a founder member of the UAM (Union des artistes modernes) in 1929, he was part of an avant-garde which changed the history of decorative arts. His pure shapes and geometrical lines, his use of never-used material, as black-lacquered silver, immediately attracted the critics and a discerning and cultured Parisian clientele.
This first monograph devoted to Raymond Templier reproduces almost 600 works, brooches, bracelets, rings, pendants, necklaces, boxes and cases, which are today in the greatest museums in the world.
