A major figure of French and European symbolism, Odilon Redon (1840-1916) is considered one of the masters of modern art alongside Cézanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh.
Based on unpublished documentation, this monograph retraces the main periods of Redon's career, from his beginnings in the 1860s to his death in 1916, and reproduces numerous paintings and pastels, some of which kept in prestigious museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, and others unpublished or little-known from private collections.
The book is completed by two unpublished sketchbooks, reproduced in their entirety, and a rich photographic documentation kept in the artist's archives.
