Exhibition at the Musée Bonnard, Le Cannet, 12 March - 12 June 2022
A prolific artist with an overflowing creativity, the Swiss artist Félix Vallotton (1865-1925) produced more than 1,700 paintings, about 250 engravings, hundreds of illustrations printed in magazines and books, numerous drawings and some sculptures. He wrote 3 novels, 10 plays and about thirty reviews and texts on art.
This exhibition catalogue brings together nearly one hundred works from a private Swiss collection - mainly woodcuts, accompanied by some fifteen paintings, from the Nabi period to his maturity. It is structured around several themes that highlight the richness of the artist's graphic work, emphasising the strangeness of reality, an essential component of his works.
