This is the first volume of the critical catalogue of the complete paintings and ceramics of Maurice de Vlaminck (1876-1956). It will be followed by the critical catalogue of the Cézannesque period of the artist, then by several volumes indexing his works during the different phases of his production. Since the monographs on Vlaminck by Maurice Genevoix (1954) and Marcel Sauvage (1956), which both appeared during the artist's lifetime, no reference work has been published on the painter.
This volume is the fruit of fifteen years of meticulous study by Maïthé Vallès-Bled, director of the Musée de Lodève since 1996, and the staff of the Wildenstein Institute.
