For the past forty-five years, the American artist Woods Davy (1949-) has worked mainly with the natural, unaltered form of stone elements that he gathers from the ground or the sea. Originally, he combined them with linear steel structures to resolve the tension between intelligence and emotion. His sculptures are now recognised, exhibited and collected worldwide.

Over the years, Woods Davy has developed a passion for kifwebe masks from the Democratic Republic of Congo. These masks, like the sculptures in his Cantamar series, are paths of transformation, where emotion transcends form.

This book brings together all the sculptures created by Davy between 1978 and 2023. It includes an essay, comments by the artist himself, and an interview.
