Exhibition at the Cité de la dentelle et de la mode, Calais, 24 June - 12 November 202;
at the musée Yves Saint Laurent, Paris, 9 February - 25 August 2024
Yves Saint Laurent (1936-2008) overturned the codes for revealing the female body. Throughout his career, the couturier used transparent materials such as lace, chiffon, cigaline and organza.
This exhibition catalogue, the fruit of a unique collaboration between the Cité de la dentelle et de la mode and the Fondation Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent, shows how the couturier used the transparent effects of fabrics to create a new, powerful and sensual female figure. It brings together around sixty models from the collections of the two museums, as well as numerous accessories, drawings, photographs and videos.
