Founded in 1740 in Vincennes before being moved in 1875, the porcelain Manufacture royale de Sèvres has always produced vases, created by the greatest artists and carefully realised. The French kings, then the Republic never gave up on promoting the creation of these objects.
This book, realized thanks to the archives of the Manufacture, kept from the beginning and of which the holdings have been largely opened, follows the history of the Manufacture in a chronological way. Each part is introduced by a history followed by texts devoted to studies of particular objects and decors, and to key figures, evolutions or events of the period. They were written by French, American or German museum curators, dealers, or academics.
