This third volume of the catalogue raisonné of Serge Charchoune (1888-1975), devoted to the 1931-1950 years, covers the most difficult period in the artist's life. It deals with the period following the 1929 crisis, which caused Charchoune to become distanced form art galleries, hit by economic events. He lived in a great precariousness, periods of doubt alternating with multiple forms of research which destabilised his work, and this was reflected in his painting. From 1938 and the beginning of World War II, his meeting with two art dealers sparked his long awaited regeneration.
