At the end of his reign, Louis XIV had the Marly residence built, for which he ordered a series of sculptures to several artists as Coysevox and the Coustou brothers. Louis XV continued his work notably with the famous "Marly horses" by Guillaume Coustou. The collection was then dispersed.
This catalogue recounts the history of the sculptures coming from Marly gardens kept in the French public collections, since their creations until today, following all the steps of their preservation. Each work is accompanied by all its sources, an exhaustive bibliography, the history of its state and restorations, and the list of all its replicas.
